FAQs

What is the difference between Artist Management and Artist Development?

In a nutshell, artist management and artist development are for artists at different points in their career. Development is mainly for artists looking for training in every aspect, as well as access to services every month to push their brand faster. For a developing artist, the goal is to complete the program with at least one album, and then given a choice to move on to management. Artist management is meant for established artists; a musician or singer that already has released music, has experience playing shows, and meets the minimum requirements for a manager.

If I am signed, how much creative control do I have?

We believe that all managers and artists work better together in the form of a team. While every artist has 100% creative control, we encourage artists to listen to their manager’s advisement, but keeping a healthy balance of equality. In all, you will not have to say yes to anything you dont want to do.

Do I maintain ownership over my music?

Yes, yes, and yes. Whether it be a song you wrote, to a beat you purchased, you own the rights. However, there are some cases where you may work with a songwriter, producer, or 3rd party musician. In this scenario, we would help you divide the rights and royalty percentages between the parties in a fair, respectable way.

Do I maintain ownership over my social platforms?

If you sign with Elton Audio, you will maintain the same control over your social media as you do now. We may make suggestions, check up on your analytics, but in no way do we have any right to take control over your account(s). However, there may be a time where you grant permission for your manager to help you with your social media, but in no way are you giving it up.

What services will I have access to as an artist?

There are some services not listed on the EAR Store, but are accessible to artists exclusively. For example, as an artist you will have access to;

  • Artist Hub - an online portal that gives you free access to artist tailored workshops, guides, and articles
  • The EAR Cloud - an online upload/download file storage system powered by Google
  • The EAR Artist Store - access to all of our services and more, up to 70% off

How long is a contract term?

Depending on the contract (development or management) terms range from 6 months to 2 years. Built in to each contract are ways to extend and on the flipside, ways to get out. Despite the common understanding of the music industry being ruthless to artists, we are combatting this issue by keeping things professional, on both sides. We also encourage artists to speak to an attorney before signing any agreement, which is a good general rule of life.

How much does it cost to be part of either program?

In any program, the only things that would cost money upfront are the services. With management, services are not provided automatically but are available to the artist at any time. Development comes in a package format, which we do charge on a monthly, recurring basis. In both artist agreements, you will be assigned a personal artist manager whom takes 15% of your earnings as compensation.

How much will I earn from my music as an artist under either program?

Depending on a multitude of factors, earnings will vary from artist to artist. In some situations, artists land sync deals within their first few months working with Elton Audio. We strongly believe that the best way to earn the most money from your music is by diversifying your income (i.e. - streaming, concert sales, merchandise, sync licensing, etc.)

How do I join either program?

Whether you're interested in management or development, it all starts with getting in touch with us. Send us an email with your name, artist name, city, and some music links. We'll get back to you as soon as we can with possible dates for a virtual meeting.
