The iHeartRadio Music Awards is Back: Megan Thee Stallion, Harry Styles, and More Nominees Announced

After the 2020 showing of the iHeartRadio Music Awards was cancelled due to the onset of the pandemic, the 2021 edition is scheduled to broadcast live on May 27th from the LA Dolby Theater. Fox and iHeartRadio have released the list of nominees and we are not surprised to see it jam packed with all of the successful talents from the past year.

The top nominees include the Weeknd with nominations in eight categories, Roddy Rich and Megan Thee Stallion tied for second with seven nominations, and Harry Styles with six. However many more artists across multiple genres are set up with multiple nominations. Pop female sensations such as Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish; K-Pop groups BTS and BLACKPINK; and country stars Blake Shelton, Luke Combs, and Maren Morris are just a few of the talents in competition for the coveted heart shaped trophy.

The iHeartRadio Music Awards will recognize the artists with the most plays and songs from the radio station over the past year. However, there are a few categories that are open to fan voting, such as Best Fan Army, Best Cover Song, Best Music Video, Favorite Music Video Choreography Award and the Social Star Award. The event will also unveil an entirely new category: the TikTok Bop of the Year Award, to recognize the hits that garnered its audience through the social media app.

Voting for these awards can take place on either Twitter or the iHeartRadio website itself by users including the corresponding hashtags and categories in their tweets. Starting today, fans can vote for their favorites up until May 19, at 11:59 EST.

Tom Poleman, the CPO of iHeartRadio stated, “We are looking forward to celebrating these top artists and their accomplishments, especially after a year that brought unprecedented challenges to the music industry and live events.”

If you are interested in tuning into the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards, the event is set to air from 8 to 10pm in both EST and PST. The show can also be heard on the iHeartRadio station and the app. We are excited to see the variety of talent featured on the show, and wish the best of luck to all of the nominees.
